Shreyas Iyer's First Reaction After Spleen Injury, Says 'Getting Better' (Instagram @shreyasiyer96)
New Delhi: India's ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has shared his first reaction after his recent spleen injury. Shreyas was recently admitted to the hospital and later to the ICU after internal bleeding due to the spleen laceration. And now Shreyas has taken to his social media handle to share his health update. Interestingly, Shreyas has some positive news for his fans.
Taking to his X, Shreyas posted, "I'm currently in the recovery process and getting better, every passing day. I'm deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I've received - it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts."

Earlier, in an official statement, BCCI updated about Shreyas Iyer's health update. The statement read, "The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery. The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress."
Earlier, BCCI released the health update which read, ''Shreyas Iyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib-cage region while fielding during the third ODI in Sydney. Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen. He is under treatment, medically stable, and recovering well.”
After the news of Shreyas Iyer's inury surfaced, former India batter Shikhar Dhawan took to his social media handle to wish the cricketer speedy recovery. In his X post, Dhawan wrote, ''Gave it your all for that catch. Unfortunate to see you pick up that injury. Wishing you a strong and speedy recovery, brother.''
Meanwhile, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, earlier talking about Shreyas Iyer's health update, said, "Now see, we are not doctors. When we saw from outside, when the catch was taken (by Shreyas), it looked like it was normal," He added, "But none of us were there, only those who were there can tell what actually happened. So they said after going inside it was felt you will have to pay good attention (to him). Then he was rushed to the specialist, and we were told about what happened."
